The Antioquia Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Interactuar Group and the National Army’s Faith in Colombia program, held a successful farmers’ market in which producers from different municipalities in the department were supported.

This event, which took place at the facilities of the Government of Antioquia, stood out not only for the diversity of products offered, but also for the positive impact on the local economy, achieving approximately 9 million pesos in sales.

High quality artisanal and agroecological products

Market visitors had the opportunity to purchase a wide range of products, including cocoa and its derivatives: table chocolate and chocolate bars; as well as seasonings, dehydrated products, eggs, gulupa, preserves, blueberries, strawberries, and a selection of fresh vegetables such as carrots, tomatoes, lettuce and cilantro.

Fresh fruit, flavoured panela, honey and its derivatives were also offered: soaps and soothing sprays based on propolis.

Other products available included agroecological coffee, artisanal wine, pastries, artisanal ice cream, and cold cuts, all carefully made by small producers who promote sustainable practices and conscious consumption. The variety and quality of these items reflected the effort and commitment of farmers and artisans from Antioquia to bring the best of their land directly to consumers.

A significant economic and social impact

This event not only allowed producers to generate direct income, with total sales reaching approximately 9 million pesos.

The farmers’ market served as a showcase for small producers to make themselves known, expand their marketing networks and access new markets.

Commitment to rural development

This important event reaffirmed the commitment of the National Army, its Faith in Colombia program and the partners of Unified Action to the rural development of Antioquia, highlighting the importance of continuing to support these initiatives that promote the well-being of rural communities and access to healthy, high-quality products for all Antioquians.

The activity was accompanied by comprehensive action capabilities, where the soldiers handed out popcorn to all attendees, who also enjoyed a serenade that entertained for a while.

These actions highlight the commitment of the soldiers of the National Army to the producers who participated in this farmers’ market, as well as to the attendees who, with their purchases, supported the work and effort of our farmers. We will continue working together for a stronger and more prosperous Antioquian countryside.
