Buenos Aires, Oct 1 (EFE).- The Argentine Justice Department authorized this Tuesday the transfer of Diego Maradona’s body to a mausoleum in Buenos Aires, which will be built in the Puerto Madero neighborhood with the intention of honoring the former soccer player and world champion. with the Argentine National Team.

The Criminal Court No. 3 of San Isidro, in the province of Buenos Aires, gave rise to the request of Maradona’s children to relocate the remains from the Jardín de Bella Vista cemetery in the Buenos Aires town of San Miguel to a sanctuary, which will be built to 2025 under the name “Memorial del Diez”.

The also called ‘M10 Memorial’ will be the place where the former Albiceleste coach “will find eternal rest, near the Argentine people,” according to his heirs in a joint statement.

The mausoleum will be built on the Explanada del Bajo, a site that can be accessed on foot from Plaza de Mayo and will be open to the public. Last year Dalma, Gianinna, Jana and Dieguito Fernando Maradona led and announced the official presentation of the project.

In November 2021, the first anniversary of Diego’s death, his children made public their intention to create a monument in honor of their father.

Maradona died on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60, as a result of “acute pulmonary edema secondary to exacerbated chronic heart failure,” according to the autopsy. A “dilated cardiomyopathy” was also discovered in his heart.

The investigation of his death would be “cardiorespiratory arrest, secondary to acute pulmonary edema, produced by acute left ventricular failure (acute heart failure), in an agonizing condition of short duration, being estimated in minutes or at most a few hours.”

Due to the death of Diez, the neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, the psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov and the psychologist Carlos Díaz were accused of simple homicide due to possible intent.

In addition, the doctor who coordinated the former soccer player’s home care, Nancy Forlini; the nurses’ coordinator, Mariano Perroni; the nurse Ricardo Omar Almirón; the nurse Dahiana Gisela Madrid; and the clinical doctor Pedro Di Spagna, are five other defendants in the case, linked to the health care that Maradona should have received.

Judges Maximiliano Savarino, Verónica Di Tommaso and Julieta Makintach, who authorized the transfer at the request of Dalma and Gianinna on August 15, will have to judge next March the health professionals involved in the case for the death of the soccer star.
