But in order to offer optimal reception conditions, and also to allow adequate dissemination of these major events, development work will have to be carried out over the next three years.

On this subject, a delegation, led by the Mayor of Verona, Damiano Tommasi, and the Representative of the Milano Cortina 2026 Infrastructure CompanyLuigi Valerio Sant’Andrea, inspected the premises last week, Friday March 10, 2023.

During the inspection, we examined which are the most critical elements in order to be able to define the interventions to be carried out.

The accessibility of the Arenas and the spaces reserved for the Ceremonies is undoubtedly one of the most important subjects, a subject that requires a lot of attention, also because it is necessary to coordinate the works as well as possible with the activity of the amphitheater with regard to both its winter use and the management of the summer season during which opera performances are held.

Over the next few weeks, a complete inventory will have to be carried out and a reflection on the financing to be agreed will also have to be carried out with a view to making this emblematic monument a setting worthy of the Games, without however altering its appearance. architecture inherited from the Roman period and recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2000.

As stated by the President of the Region, Luca Zaia:

[Les Cérémonies qui se dérouleront dans les Arènes] will be the symbol of how the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games should be inclusive.
