The architectural masterpiece of Antanas Vivulskis in Šiluva has been declared under state protection Culture

St. The Chapel of the Apparition of the Virgin Mary is the only building designed by the architect and sculptor Antanas Vivulskis (1877–1919) that has survived to this day. Built exactly a century ago, it stands out among different architectural styles.

Declaring cultural heritage objects under state protection opens up wider opportunities to receive part of the state budget funding for their preservation and management.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the completion of this chapel.

Šiluva St. The project of the Chapel of the Apparition of the Virgin Mary was created by Antanas Vivulskis in 1903. The building was planned to be completed in 1908 in St. For the 300th anniversary of the apparition of the Virgin Mary.

However, due to various restrictions of the Russian government, the construction of the chapel began only in 1912, took place intermittently, and the object itself was completed only in 1924, after the architect had already died.

Šiluva St. The Chapel of the Apparition of the Virgin Mary is the only surviving building designed by A. Vivulskis, as well as the only surviving almost authentic object created by him in general.
