The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union praised, on Friday in Cairo, the tireless efforts deployed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to support the Palestinian cause and defend the city of Al-Quds.
On the occasion of its 32nd session held in Cairo, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union unanimously hailed the continued support of His Majesty the King to the resistance of the Palestinian people, as well as the efforts made by the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency Acharif, which falls under the Al Quds Committee, to preserve the city’s identity and support its residents.
She also reiterated her position on the illegality of colonization in all its forms, calling on the UN Security Council to fully assume its responsibilities in the implementation of its resolutions concerning the rejection and immediate cessation of all forms of colonization in the Palestinian territories, including in the city of Al-Quds.
The Union likewise urged the UN and the Security Council to put pressure on the occupation administration to end its policy of “ethnic cleansing”, particularly in occupied Al-Quds, as c This is the case in the district of Sheikh Jarrah, as well as in the locality of Silwan.
She thus pointed out that the Israeli authorities continue to demolish and seize houses by force and evict legitimate residents, confiscate the property of Islamic Awqaf, churches and citizens, as well as Islamic cemeteries in particular in Al Quds Acharif.
Furthermore, the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union emphasized the need to support the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) to carry out its tasks and maintain its role until to the implementation of the UN General Assembly resolution to resettle Palestinian refugees in their homes and properties.
Morocco participated in this meeting with a delegation representing the members of the national parliamentary section of the Arab Interparliamentary Union, namely the deputies Mrs. Fatima Khair, Lahcen Saadi, Abderahim Ouamrou, Abderazzak Ahlouch, Faissal Zerhouni, as well as the advisers Cheikh Ahmadou Adabda and Abdelatif Moustakim.
This conclave was held within the framework of initiatives aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation as a fundamental pillar of Arab solidarity, in addition to shedding light on priority issues for the countries of the region.
The two-day meeting focused on the role of parliaments in achieving economic integration and activating the role of Arab women, enshrining Arab commitment to the Palestinian cause and rejecting projects that violate the rights of the Palestinian people.
