The Apprentice: When is the movie that makes Trump tremble?

Through a one-minute clip released Tuesday (9/3), viewers got a first look at star Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump. Specifically, in this short excerpt from the much-anticipated – albeit controversial – movie “The Apprentice,” Donald Trump talks on the phone with a reporter while being guided by his mentor, Roy Cohn, the famous right-wing political organizer (played by Jeremy Strong).

After its premiere in Cannes where it caused a backlash, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung blasted the film as “pure malicious defamation, filled with blatantly false claims.” In fact, he openly expressed the intention of the campaign to file a lawsuit against the creators of the film, which according to him again “should not see the light of day”.

The script of the film was edited by the journalist of Vanity Fair, Gabriel Sirman, while the direction is signed by the Iranian-Danish director Ali Abbasi. The plot focuses on Trump’s relationship with Cohn, who played an important role in the political formation of the former American president as we know him today.

However, the director himself, although he states that while he can understand the reasons why the former president of America may consider the film to be “derogatory” and a “conspiracy”, he believes that he should see it himself.
