The Apple Watch Series 3 finally says goodbye

We felt it coming. A few days from keynote back to school, the Apple Watch Series 3 is disappearing from the shelves. The entry-level watch can no longer be ordered from the Apple Store in several countries, including the Japanthe UK and theAustralia. It is still in stock in France (from 219 €), but it should not last.

Apple Watch Series 3

The disappearance of the Apple Watch Series 3 is anything but a surprise: Apple was not going to leave its catalog a incompatible generation with watchOS 9, a major update that will be released this month. At the entry level, the Series 3 should be very advantageously replaced by a 2nd generation Apple Watch SE equipped with a larger screen and other much more modern components.

Launched in 2017 under watchOS 4.0, the Apple Watch Series 3 notably inaugurated the cellular connection at the wrist. If its technical capacities had been revised upwards compared to the Series 1/2, they are now largely exceeded. Its 8 GB of storage posed a problem when installing updates and its S3 chip is only 32 bit. After five years on the market, it was high time for the Apple Watch Series 3 to retire.
