AP-HP – Madeleine Riffaud, resistant during the Second World War and now 98 years old, told Monday, September 19 in the columns of The cross his recent treatment at the Lariboisière hospital in Paris for an emergency examination.
To read her testimony, it turned into a long ordeal, since she spent “24 hours on the same stretcher, without eating anything”before finally being transferred to a private clinic.
“I found myself lying in the middle of patients who were screaming in pain, rage, abandonment (…). And the nurses were running in there, overwhelmed… They were handing out ‘I’m coming!’ and ‘it works!’. ‘I’m coming, I’m coming !’ But no one was coming. Never “says in particular Madeleine Riffaud, who also had to wait twelve hours “to get half a glass of questionable water” et “lukewarm”.
“Sometimes I felt that my stretcher was being taken away, that I was crossing a courtyard, perhaps? It was colder, that’s all I can say. After the publication of this testimony, theAssistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) wished to provide its version of the facts on this coverage.
“The patient presented herself alone by ambulance to the emergency room of Lariboisière hospital on September 4, 2022 at 12:10 p.m. She was welcomed by the reception and orientation nurse, registered in the care circuit of the service then examined by the senior doctor at 12.25 p.m., who prescribed a certain number of examinations. Biological samples were taken at 12:43 p.m. and a scanner was performed at 5:25 p.m. In the evening, the patient was transferred to the short-term hospitalization sector of the emergency room. On the morning of September 5, following the doctor’s clinical examination, the patient was transferred to another health facility suited to her medical situation.writes the AP-HP in a press release published on Tuesday, September 20.
“Technical gestures, care and monitoring were thus provided to the patient on a regular basis throughout her treatment. Medicines adapted to his situation were dispensed to him.further specify the Hospitals of Paris.
“The AP-HP very sincerely regrets the way the patient experienced her care and the fact that she felt that she had been insufficiently supported. We will endeavor to quickly and completely clarify the conditions under which she was informed and supported throughout her presence at the Lariboisière AP-HP hospital.”concludes the AP-HP.
