The National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Technology (Anmat) prohibited the commercialization in the whole country of as pills to improve sexual performance. He did so following a consumer reported that the tablets caused a “rapid rise in blood pressure.”
It’s regarding the article “All Natural Herbal Supplements, marca Shelex – Male Sexual Enhancement, 8 Capsule, Distributed by American Nutraceutical Technology Inc., El Monte, CA 91731, USA”. Según detalla la Disposition 447/2022, published this Friday in the Official Gazette, “It lacks product and establishment authorization, resulting in consequence to be an illegal product.”
“Because it is a product that cannot be reliably and clearly identified as produced, elaborated and / or divided in a specific establishment, it cannot be elaborated in any part of the country, neither marketed nor sold in the territory of the Republic” explains the rule.
The investigation that led to the prohibition of the product began with a complaint from a consumer, who warned that “The intake of the investigated product would have caused a rapid increase in blood pressure.”
The product label details that it is used to “Improve men’s sexual performance”, and it is advised that care must be taken if it is mixed with alcohol, that it should not consume more doses than recommended and that it should be kept out of the reach of children.
Other prohibited drug
On the other hand, the Anmat prohibited the use, commercialization and distribution throughout the national territory of all batches and presentations, until it is registered in the Registry of Medicinal Specialties, of the following product: “BAO JI WAN GINSENG FORTE, GINSENG. Prepared by: GUANGZHOU WANGLAOJI PHARMACEUTICAL CO. LTD, CHINA. Imported by: GLOBAL PHARMACEUTICAL CORPORATION SAC, calle Fray Luis de León 479, San Borja, Lima, Peru and by TRADING INTERNATIONAL CORPORATION for Latin America ”.
Through the Provision 448/2022, the agency explained that it is regarding a drug, but there are no product registration records in the Registry of Medicinal Specialties (REM) of this National Administration with the commercial name BAO JI WAN GINSENG FORTE. “Therefore, – they say – it is not possible to determine whether it was prepared in the circumstances indicated by law and what its true composition is.”
