A leak from this year’s fifth edition of the magazine animewhich will be published on April 8 in Japan, included a special illustration for the franchise of Pokémon Journeys, whose anime adaptation is currently in broadcast. The funny thing is that this visual includes three female characters: Chloe and Lisia from Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, who had already been previously confirmed; and Serenawho wears an outfit shown in the video game Pokémon XY.
On April 8 in Japan, the new episode of Pokémon Journeyswhich will be entitled “Eevee and Sylveon! Meet and meet!“. The relationship between the leaked illustration and the title is undeniable, given that the Eevee shown in the image includes the ribbon that Serena gave Chloe at one point in the franchise. However, it is also worth noting that the trailer for the next episode only confirms the return of Chloe and Lisia, although fans assure that it is “a smokescreen” to hide Serena’s return as well.
Is the leak real? The answer is quite simple and the editorial department of Animedia magazine itself made the mistake of indirectly confirming it. It turns out that Serena’s comeback is a pretty hot topic these days, and any leaks regarding it are viewed with skepticism given that most only release “false rumors” to get likes. But that did not happen this time, as the editorial department posted an update on Twitter and responded to some accounts that shared the image warning them that they might not leak content from the magazine:
«Editorial department of Animedia. Unauthorized secondary reproduction or distribution of copyrighted illustrations, photographs, and magazine articles is strictly prohibited. Please refrain from reproducing or uploading the articles and images in their entirety to the Internet and social networks. Please note that if you do not respond, we may take appropriate action in accordance with the law» wrote the warning that indirectly confirmed the veracity of the leak.
Synopsis of Pokémon Journeys
On a new day in the Kanto region, Satoshi is invited by Professor Yukinari Ookido to the groundbreaking ceremony for Professor Sakuragi’s laboratory in Vermillion City. During the ceremonial speech, Professor Sakuragi receives an alert of a possibly rare Pokémon appearing in Vermillion City’s port, prompting Satoshi and the other trainers to run to the area in hopes of finding the mysterious Pokémon. At the port, they find Lugia, a legendary Pokémon, in battle with other trainers.
Noticing the other trainers’ tactics, Satoshi has his partner, Pikachu, hit Lugia with a Thunderbolt attack. Undeterred, Lugia runs away, but not before Satoshi jumps determinedly on his back. To Satoshi’s surprise, he meets another boy, Gou, who also jumped on Lugia’s back. The two ride on Lugia’s back as he takes them on a strange adventure across the seas. As he leaves the two on the ground, Satoshi and Gou say their goodbyes to Lugia and head back to Sakuragi High School. Impressed by Gou’s findings and Satoshi’s insight during their encounter, Sakuragi requests that the duo be his new research partners. And so begins the duo’s journey, traveling through multiple regions to meet many new Pokémon, including ones with the ability to Gigantamax!
