The American delegate: Washington does not interfere in the work of the International Criminal Court regarding the arrest of Israeli leaders

Washington – The Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, said that Washington does not interfere in the activities of the International Criminal Court and does not influence its decisions.

The American delegate made this statement in response to the possibility of the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants against high-ranking Israeli officials due to the war waged by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.

She said, “The International Criminal Court is an independent organization, and it takes action without any American interaction or interference.”

It should be noted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated last Friday, against the backdrop of possible measures that the International Criminal Court might take against Israel, that he would not allow any attempts by this body “to undermine Israel’s inalienable right to self-defense.”

According to the prime minister, the threat to arrest military personnel and officials in “the only democracy in the Middle East” that Israel represents “will create a dangerous precedent” on a global scale.

Earlier, Hebrew media reported that the Israeli authorities greatly fear the possibility of the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants against high-ranking Israeli officials in connection with the events in the Gaza Strip.
