A guarantee of quality certifying the excellence of patient care. Highlighted with Dr. Jean Broitman, cardiologist.
Two years following creating, in April 2021, a arterial hypertension unit (HTA) thanks to doctors Broitman and Darcy, and composed of a multidisciplinary team (cardiologists, specialized nurses, dieticians, psychologists, etc.), Aguilera Clinic obtained in January 2023 a European Society of Hypertension (ESH) certification as a reference establishment (“Blood Pressure Clinic”) in the treatment of this pathology. A title awarded only very rarely in the private sector, and awarded to only regarding fifteen establishments in France, mainly University Hospital Centers (CHU).
Fight once morest cardiovascular diseases
High blood pressure can appear at any time of life, including during pregnancy, but it is much more common in adults and the elderly. In France, the number of hypertensives is estimated at 16 million. (i.e. one in three adults). A figure that has gradually increased over the past decades, in particular due to several factors. Among them: a higher incidence of obesity, a more sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits.
« The high prevalence of this pathology, combined with the fact that only a quarter of hypertensive patients manage to maintain their blood pressure properly controlled, makes it the main risk factor for the development of cardiovascular diseases (myocardial infarction, stroke), cognitive disorders and chronic renal failure says Dr. Broitman.
« By obtaining this European certification, we will be able to better control blood pressure locally, carry out prevention, participate in research protocols, and develop new treatment techniques, in order to continuously improve the care of our patients. Since its establishment, 200 patients have already passed through our hypertension unit. concludes the healthcare professional.
