Thus, the Council decided to support Morocco’s candidacy for the Council of the International Maritime Organization for the period 2024-2025, during the elections to be held on the occasion of the 33rd session of the General Assembly of the IMO, in December 2023 in London.
Likewise, the Council decided to support the candidacy of Mr. Mohammed Charef for his re-election to the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families for the period 2024-2027, during the elections scheduled for the occasion of the 11th meeting of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Migrant Workers, scheduled for New York in June 2023.
The AU Executive Council also took note of Morocco’s candidacy for the United Nations Security Council for the period 2028-2029, during the elections scheduled for June 2027 in New York.
The endorsement of these candidacies by the AU Executive Council testifies to the great credibility enjoyed by the Kingdom with the pan-African organization and the relevance of the Kingdom’s strategy, under the High Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. , to strengthen its presence in international organizations.
The Moroccan delegation was led to the Executive Council of the AU by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita.
