The African Climate Roundtable aims to unify African voices on climate resilience and adaptation. –

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, April 12, 2024 -/African Media Agency(AMA)/- African Risk Capacity (ARC) will bring together leading partners in the field of climate and food security in Africa.

The meeting will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa on May 7-8, 2024.

“Africa has a clear role to play in terms of providing solutions to mitigate the impact of climate change, promote adaptation and increase resilience, particularly of vulnerable communities. Over the past twelve months, the Conference of the Parties (COP) discussions and the African Climate Summit have seen significant developments. The groundbreaking decision to establish the Loss and Damage Fund during COP 27 was a breakthrough for developing nations that are disproportionately affected by climate change. The roundtable will expand on the framework proposed by the Fund to facilitate agreement on coordinated and coherent climate action, promote essential conversations and discuss innovative solutions”.

More specifically, the round table will be an opportunity for stakeholders to:

1. To articulate demand on the ground in relation to supply;

2. To elaborate on the opportunities available;

3. To identify the challenges that stand on the path to implementation;

4. To use lessons learned from our collective experiences;

5. To develop innovative solutions,

6. Identify potential areas of collaboration;

7. To mobilize additional resources.

COP29, which will be held this year in Baku, Azerbaijan. Ahead, the African climate round table will bring together leaders from across the continent. This is an opportunity to forge a common and decisive African voice on issues of resilience and climate adaptation.
