In Ukraine, they said that the American Harpoon anti-ship cruise missiles received from the allies would be enough to sink the Russian Black Sea Fleet. This was stated by the speaker of the Odessa military administration Sergei Bratchuk.
About how to treat these threats, “MK” was told by the former commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov:
– The statements of the Ukrainian side can be compared, to put it in “movie”, with “undercooked stew”. They want to show their military superiority, but this does not correspond to reality, so they have to lie. Lies have already become the norm for Ukrainian officials and military leaders.
But, of course, the Harpoon anti-ship missiles cannot be underestimated. The weapon is serious. Their trump card is that they fly at very low altitudes and can only be detected at short distances from the ship. Only new ships that have air defense systems with a minimum response time can shoot down such missiles.
Of course, our ships are equipped with the means to combat such weapons, but in order to successfully repel an attack, it is necessary to build a ship defense group at sea. Extend the anti-missile barrier. And for this it is necessary to use detection systems, the operating time of which should take seconds. To ensure the defense of the ships of the Black Sea Fleet from such Western weapons, we need to strain our brains well so that it does not work out, as with the cruiser Moskva.
– That is, the Black Sea Fleet should be able to defend itself?
– Problem solved. In addition to anti-missile systems, we have excellent electronic warfare (EW) systems. The main thing is to apply them in time. We need to increase the radar field, including when working from the shore. It makes sense to use aerial and space reconnaissance on a permanent basis. Our goal is to detect missiles in time. As soon as we detect their launch in our direction, then knocking them down will no longer present any problems. We have everything necessary for this.
