From the death certificate TMZ available, it now appears that the death of the “The Prince of Zamunda” actor is dated August 21st. John died of systolic heart failure in a California hospital, according to the document.
This means John has been dead for over a month. The sad news came as a surprise to many, including John’s daughter Shannon, who found out about her father’s death through the media. “Our family received the heartbreaking news that my father, John Allen Amos Jr., passed away on August 21st,” she wrote Instagram and explained: “We are devastated and have many questions about how this could have happened 45 days ago and we are only now finding out about it through the media, like so many of you.”
Press spokeswoman Belinda Foster made John’s death public on Tuesday, as reported by The Sun reported. Shortly afterwards, John’s son KC Amos issued a statement confirming the loss. The fans of the “Roots” actor were deeply affected by the unexpected news and expressed their sadness over John’s death online. “I always enjoyed seeing John Amos on screen. Not only was he a good actor – even with bad scripts – but I also enjoyed just watching him.”said one of numerous comments X.
