After 48 hours in police custody at Melun hospital, Pierre Palmade was indicted and placed under judicial supervision following the serious road accident he caused on February 10.
At the end of his police custody, Pierre Palmade was indicted this Friday as part of the investigation opened for manslaughter and involuntary injuries by a driver under the influence of narcotics. During a closed hearing, the judge of freedoms and detention pronounced his placement under judicial control under electronic bracelet.
“Pierre Palmade was placed under house arrest in the addiction service of a hospital, under electronic surveillance”, specifies the parquet floor of Melun which immediately appealed.
According to our information, this summons takes place at the Paul-Brousse hospital, in Villejuif, until a new hearing before the Paris Court of Appeal within ten days.
Judicial information opened
The investigators, who hoped to obtain answers during the police custody of the actor, have not yet obtained clarification on the circumstances of the accident. During his hearing, Pierre Palmade indeed explained that he had very few memories of the collision. On the other hand, he admitted to having consumed drugs before taking the wheel, he expressed his “shame” and said to be “ravaged” by the consequences of this accident.
Judicial information has been opened by the Melun prosecutor’s office in order to offer the investigating judge in charge of the investigation more means and options to try to reconstruct the scenario of this accident which seriously injured three people. A 27-year-old woman, 6 months pregnant, lost her baby as a result of the shock.
Passengers under assisted witness status
Two other men were also brought before the investigating magistrate on Friday. These are the two men who were in the car with Pierre Palmade at the time of the accident and who fled just following the collision. After several days of searching, they were finally arrested. The first was not indicted, but placed under the status of assisted witness.
“My client is accused of not assisting a person in danger,” said his lawyer, Me Nathalie Fonteneau.
The second was also placed under the status of assisted witness, his lawyer told BFMTV. The counsel said he was “satisfied with this decision and underlined that there was not, in his opinion, “enough elements to put him on trial.” He also affirmed that his client “helped the people injured in the extent of his means” before fleeing.
At this stage, the statements of these two men made during their police custody have not made it possible to learn more regarding the context of the accident. One indeed claimed that he was asleep at the time on shock and that it was the other passenger who incited him to flee.
