The action of the Moroccan Anti-Doping Agency (AMAD) is at the service of Moroccan athletes and aims to promote healthy sports practice at the national level, said, Wednesday in Rabat, the president of this anti-doping body, Fatima Abouali. .
Speaking at a press conference on the occasion of the inauguration of the AMAD headquarters, Ms. Abouali stressed that the agency’s work consists above all in serving athletes and national sport, particularly in terms of prevention and awareness of the fight once morest doping.
“It is important to know that the role of AMAD does not only consist in initiating sanctions in cases of doping, but essentially in supporting athletes and federal authorities in the fight once morest doping,” she noted. , adding that it is also involved in popularizing international regulations in this area.
Doping substances have health, moral and material consequences on athletes and have a negative impact on the noble values conveyed by sport, indicated the president of AMAD, considering that several cases of doping are the result of the ignorance of certain athletes in the regulations in force.
She added that the agency can also intervene at the legal level by advising athletes on the remedies available to them before international sports bodies, such as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), as well as on the conditions and the procedures for granting authorizations for the use of tablets and prohibited materials for treatment purposes for these athletes.
“The AMAD’s legal arsenal essentially aims to support all stakeholders in the sports field to promote a healthy sporting practice that advocates merit and competence to raise the level of national sport”, noted Ms. Abouali.
She indicated that despite its recent creation, AMAD is at the center of a national anti-doping platform integrating 12 stakeholders at governmental level, emphasizing the need for joint action by all stakeholders to succeed in the fight. anti-doping.
Regarding the seminar that the agency plans to organize on October 19 in Rabat on the action of this body to serve national sport, it emphasized the role of the sports press in the dissemination of content to high added value and to communicate key messages, in order to take part in educating citizens regarding clean sport.
In this regard, she indicated that several topics will be discussed during this seminar with the participation of eminent personalities in the field of anti-doping, in particular the world anti-doping program and the role of Morocco in this field, as well as the importance of education in the fight once morest doping.
Created on January 13, 2021, in accordance with Law 97-12, the Moroccan Anti-Doping Agency is an independent institution with financial autonomy responsible for implementing national policy in the fight once morest doping.
