Among the measures that Sergio Massa recently announced is the payment of a $60,000 bonus for all workers who receive a salary of less than $400,000. However, this did not sit well within the business sector. With the opportunity to talk more regarding this topic, we communicated with the lawyer Juan Pablo Godoy.
“It is not new that from SMEs there is resistance to the fixed sum and really, to any increase”, commented Juan Pablo Godoy. “The advantage of the fixed sum is that, since it is not remunerative, does not pay taxes, it is a clean sum and has no additional like any increase that first becomes incorporated into the salary,” he added.
The $60,000 bonus for workers can be absorbed by parities
With respect to the possibility that an agreement in parity absorbs this bonus, Godoy stated that as long as the parity value exceeds or reaches that amount, will integrate the next increase. In relation to this issue, he gave an example: “Assuming that with the new parity the increase is $70,000, well, that $60,000 of the bonus will already be within the parity and it will represent $10,000 more than the total value of this fixed sum.”
With this measure, the Government offers compensation to companies
On the other hand, the lawyer stated that, “What the Government proposes to companies with these measures is compensation”. So, “when it comes to calculating the final amount of what they have to pay, it is not that they are actually going to get more money, but what they overpay on the one hand, they discount on the other”.
work injury
“From the worker’s theory, you can always claim to be paid everything you are owed and in any case, the lack of payment of what corresponds implies a labor injury”, said the interviewee. Then he explained that what the labor injury entails is that the worker can be considered firedhowever, “in the context in which we are, if the $30,000 is not paid, what worker is going to make a claim and then consider himself fired.”
In closing, Godoy focused on the private sector and said: “Let’s remember that with the devaluation we had, many rose well aboveTherefore, it seems to me that the vast majority are already covered.
