Game News The 6 indie games of the week not to be missed (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

You’re starting to get used to it: every week, dozens of video games (indie or not, for that matter) are released on various platforms, whether on PC, Switch, Xbox or PlayStation. Our mission at JV – is to make sure you find yourself there! So as at the start of each week, here is your selection of titles, from July 25 to 31, 2022. There are quite a few choices.

Bear and Breakfast

Why not start with a fully relaxed game? In Bear and Breakfast, you are a bear who does his best to take care of a “bed and breakfast” (homestay accommodation including one night and one breakfast). You will have to put your hands to the paw so as not to scare your visitors! In this title developed by Gummy Cat, the first step will therefore be to renovate an abandoned cabin with care. Everything must go there: bathroom, living room, and of course the bedrooms. According to the Steam page, these can extend to “dozens”. For all this you will have to choose furniture and decoration, with an interface that seems really complete. But that’s not all. Bear and Breakfast describes itself as a management and “adventure” game with a secret that would hide deep in the forest. Intriguing.

Captain Velvet Meteor

After the forest, our selection takes you squarely into another dimension with Captain Velvet Meteor, which will be released very soon on Nintendo Switch! It’s an adventure game | strategy where Damien, a young boy turned upside down by his move to Japan, create in his imagination a superhero, Captain Velvet Meteor. And as if that weren’t enough, he even fashions an entire universe where his fears have come to life. The title from the Momo-pi studio thus offers an adventure in two stages: the very real reality, where you will have the opportunity to chat with your family; and fiction, which will call on all your strategy to defeat a host of enemies. On the Nintendo site, there is even mention of “infiltration, puzzles” phases to eradicate evil. All in all, we imagine a complete experience with fights, a lot of narration.

Strange Horticulture

This time we enter the strange parenthesis of this selection, with Strange Horticulture, a puzzle game defined as “occult”. More concretely, it is a puzzle game that finds its setting in a plant shop. “Find and identify new plants, pet your cat, talk to a sorority, or join a cult,” reads the title’s Steam page. Strange Horticulture is divided into several phases: management of your customers; exploration of the surroundings of your shop; identification of plants in order to understand their power. A quest for knowledge that will not be easy – insofar as your walks in the forest might be beneficial to you as well as… deadly (“you might unearth powers beyond your wildest dreams or lose your reason ”). An experience that seems apart and more than solid!

Madison

We continue with a horror game that we have already talked regarding on JV and which is making a comeback on Nintendo’s hybrid console. We are obviously talking regarding Madison ! Its starting pitch is simple: you are in a possessed house and must flee from a demonic monster. Our test (14/20) talks regarding a meeting between Kojima’s horrible PT demo and the Project Zero series. Yes, just that! To go into more detail, you play as Luca, controlled by an entity named Madison, forced to perform a macabre ritual. Your path here will be disrupted by the creature itself, of course, but also by portals to another dimension, which can be opened using your camera. Between puzzles and terrifying appearance, the game from the Bloodious studio is perhaps not very original but ultimately has “robust qualities”.

Story of Seasons – Pioneers of Olive Town

Are you tired of the horror? So here is your player sunshine: Story of Seasons – Pioneers of Olive Town, a new installment in the farm management simulation series – formerly known as Harvest Moon. As usual: you will have to run a farm, with all that includes plants, animals but also everything related to the preparation of the land itself. “Welcome to Oliville, a peaceful community established by your grandfather and his precursor friends. Now that you’ve taken over his farm, you must carry on his legacy,” the Steam page tells us. The important thing will therefore not only be your domain, but the city next to it, whose infrastructure you can develop. There’s finally a system for chatting with locals and finding love, Stardew Valley style.

RimWorld Console Edition

To end this selection well, why not head to space? Yes, you are not dreaming, the formidable RimWorld is regarding to arrive on PlayStation 4 | Xbox. If you’ve never heard of it, know that it is a colony simulation following the existence of three survivors, following the crash of a spaceship. On Steam, we can read that the title is more of a “story generator” than a strategy game competitive. The important thing is the drama, the tragedy, the comedy within the colony. It’s simple, following having generated your world according to several parameters almost everything is possible. The mood of the colonists will be influenced by the dangers around, but also by ultra-precise things like the size of the room where he lives (yes) or which organ has been affected. Between bad weather, attacks and surprises, you will have to be alert.
