Another big success for the 5th Cinécure summer film festival, which took place in Entraygues.
Cinécure likes to combine cinema and music, with film-concerts: Fanny and Jérémy Peret, talented musicians, hosted the opening session, outdoors at Alavostra.
After four films selected on the theme of money, (including one for young people), and well-known actors such as Audrey Hepburn and Peter O’Toole, the closing film: “The Last of Men”, an exceptional silent film in black and white by Friedrich W. Murnau from 1924, was accompanied by jazz music by international artist and songwriter, Arik Strauss.
To show the fortune and misfortune of an old doorman of a chic hotel, the director at the time had tied his camera crazy with a harness on a rope, in order to give more movement to the film: a Splendid film well highlighted by very beautiful jazz on the piano. For the last session, Arik Strauss, had settled on the stage of the cinema Ciné pour Tous with his piano and played live, his original composition, animating the film.
Long-prepared improvisations and themes: “I watched the film a lot of times, to arrange the musical accompaniment; there was the theme for the main character and other themes, in the middle of improvisations; it took a lot of prep work and rehearsals.”
It was a room full of enthusiastic spectators who applauded him for a long time.
