The 5 priorities that Minister Carolina Tohá put on the table –

A kind of ordering of course for the ruling party, the legislative work, the political work and a signal to the opposition.

Team “The Century”. Santiago. 3/17/2023. The Minister of the Interior, Carolina Tohá, put on the table the five priorities that the Government has at the beginning of the second year of the mandate of President Gabriel Boric.

These would be given by the tax, pension and health reforms, public security, the signing of the new Constitution (if it is approved in this year’s plebiscite), and a development strategy considering copper, lithium and green hydrogen .

Carolina Tohá exposed these issues of the first order when inaugurating the space “Government Reports” designed by the Ministry of the General Secretariat of Government to better inform citizens regarding plans and achievements of the Government.

When commenting on the objectives of the Government, linked to its program, the Minister of the Interior maintained, by the way, that “not all things can be done with a shot and there are some things that, following a year of Government, we want before the citizens who be clear, which are the promises of the Government as a legacy that this Government seeks to leave, that it will fight to leave once morest all odds”.

Regarding the priorities, he specified that “these objectives are achievable things, part of our program, they are not our entire program, but it is the heart, what unites us the most and is urgent for the country.”

Regarding the tax and pension reforms, Carolina Tohá indicated “these are pending requirements from our Government” and emphasized that “they are at the heart of the parliamentary debate.”

Regarding transformations in health, he stated that “we seek that at the end of our government there have been profound corrections in the health system, which mean a more solid public system capable of providing good responses to all social groups and that imply that people who are today in Isapres are not devoid of protection”.

“We are going to make substantial progress in leaving security institutions that are more solid than those that existed when we arrived: the Ministry of Security, some police forces and all the agencies that intervene in a better way to respond to the demands that we have today in this matter,” he said. the head of the Interior regarding another of the Executive’s priorities.

He also maintained the relevance of the approval of the new Constitution this year and that this is a wish of this Government.

In a subject crossed by debates and where the Government has been urged to clarify the proposals, Tohá raised “at the end of our Government we hope that Chile is clear in its development strategy”, where copper, lithium and green hydrogen play a determining role.

These approaches by Carolina Tohá might be taken as organizing axes for the ruling party, the legislative work, the political work and also as a signal to the opposition.
