Paulius Valiukėnas, manager of Longo LT, points out that buyers in all Baltic countries usually look for a few car models, which have not lost their popularity for some time.
“Usually, customers are looking for such cars that satisfy not only their appearance, but also their practicality. The best-selling five, based on our sales data in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, are identical. The most preferred by customers are: Volkswagen Passat, Škoda Octavia, Opel Astra, Volvo V60 and Nissan Qashqai, the expert points out.
The price-quality ratio determines the decision
Why do customers in all Baltic countries give priority to these vehicles, Mr. Valiukėnas, answering this question, emphasizes the essential aspects: “A lot is determined by the price-quality ratio. The mentioned car models are practical, long-lasting and rarely break down. When needed, it is easy to find the necessary parts. It is not surprising that buyers more often evaluate the purchase of a car from the financial side, so it is important for them that the vehicle is reliable and economical, which is what the mentioned models are characterized by.”
The statistics of the best-selling cars in Lithuania have not changed for many years
However, the popularity of these cars in Lithuania has deep roots. As the manager of Longo LT sees, drivers are currently looking for time-tested options.
“We can see that Lithuania is probably distinguished by the fact that the positions of the TOP 5 best-selling used car models have hardly changed for several years. Perhaps looking back a few years, young people more often wanted a vehicle that was not practical, but eye-catching. Today, more and more people want to invest in a time-tested purchase,” emphasizes P. Valiukėnas.
Looking for less luxurious cars
However, as P. Valiukėnas notices, drivers have recently succumbed to another trend. According to the manager of Longo LT, customers choose luxury and flashy cars less and less.
“Recently, buyers are choosing more expensive cars less and less. Of course, this is also influenced by the increased EURIBOR interest rates, so people are not in a hurry to make decisions. However, one feature, I believe, will not change for a long time – customers will always look for a high-quality and reliable car”, the expert is convinced.
