The 5 goalkeepers making the most saves in Europe are…

Opta have established the ranking of the goalkeepers who have made the most saves in Europe this season. No. 1: Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

The best goalkeepers are not necessarily those who make the most saves, but those who make the most saves are often among the best goalkeepers. Opta proved it with its ranking.

This Monday, the statistician published the top 5 goalkeepers who have the best save percentage in the “five major European leagues”, that is to say the ratio between the number of shots saved and the number of shots frames suffered.

The Diouf surprise!

And in this little game, it’s… Marc-André Ter Stegen who wins with an impressive save percentage of 84.6%! The FC Barcelona goalkeeper is ahead of a surprise, and not just any surprise: Yehvann Diouf (83.9%), who impresses with Stade de Reims.

Behind, we find the excellent Newcastle goalkeeper, Nick Pope (82.1%), while Geronimo Rulli (82.1%) and Kepa Arrizabalaga (82%) complete the top 5. Note that the goalkeepers who have achieved less than 25 saves this season have not been taken into account.

No Courtois?

Some Real Madrid fans will no doubt be surprised not to see the incredible Thibaut Courtois appear in this ranking, but it is also explained by the low number of strikes suffered by the White House this season.
