The 300 Greatest Fortunes in Switzerland: Bilan Magazine’s Exclusive Ranking

2023-11-24 06:09:29

Bilan magazine publishes its traditional ranking of the 300 greatest fortunes in Switzerland on Friday. On first place on the podium for the second year in a row is the Frenchman Gérard Wertheimer, with more than 40 billion francs. The co-owner of Chanel is established in the canton of Geneva.

The Hoffmann, Oeri and Duschmalé families follow, heirs to the Roche pharmaceutical group, with between 26-27 billion. The German Klaus-Michael Kühne, the majority shareholder of the logistics company Kuehne + Nagel, closes the leading trio.

Further down the ranking, we find the Bertarellis, entrepreneur-navigators worth more than 15 billion. The Blocher family weighs between 14 and 15 billion. It had “only” 2-3 billion during the first ranking in 2000.

Sector on the rise: watchmaking. It “continues to function well, with sustained demand”, explains Thursday in the 7:30 p.m. Julien de Weck, the editor-in-chief of Bilan. Thus, Richard Mille and Jean-Claude Biver enter the list of 300.

An attractive country

Switzerland remains as attractive as ever, notes the economic magazine. “Switzerland’s attractiveness remains extremely strong for wealthy foreigners who come to settle in the country. In recent years, we have seen an influx of Norwegians, following an increase in the wealth tax in this country. The Germans, the French and the Italians are also still present,” notes Julien de Weck.

There were 99 billionaires in the very first Bilan ranking, today there are 162.
