The 2nd edition launched in Atakpamé

The Minister Delegate in charge of Technical Education and Handicrafts Mr. Hodin Kokou Eké launched this Friday, March 10 in Atakpamé, the second edition of the week of Technical Education and Vocational Training (ETFP).

Placed this year under the theme “ETFP-private sector partnership: guarantee of sustainable economic development”, this event, which will take place until March 17, is an initiative of the delegated ministry in charge of Technical Education of Crafts. (META), in collaboration with its partners.

The ceremony took place on the new ETFP Atakpamé site in the presence of the Prefect of Ogou Akakpo Edoh, students, artisans, workshop bosses, trainers, economic operators and other personalities.

This involves taking stock of the various actions carried out and future projections with a view to improving the attractiveness of the said sub-sector and the employability of young professionals.

Several activities will mark this celebration to allow the various actors involved to showcase their creative genius and various technical and professional skills.

According to the promoters, this week now makes it possible to strengthen communication on TVET, to raise public awareness of the missions of the sub-sector, its opportunities for training, retraining and professional integration. This edition offers an opportunity to encourage the spirit of research and innovation among both trainers and learners.

It is not only a question of sensitizing the populations on the problem of educational and professional orientation in connection with employment opportunities but also and above all of motivating young people to entrepreneurship.

Among the activities, it will be a question of caravans, sports and socio-cultural activities, radio and television broadcasts, open days, conference debates, awareness tours, exhibitions of books and guided tours, among others.

The discussions of these meetings will also focus on various themes including training offers, TVET in the digital age, its roles in the factors of the fight once morest social evils (terrorism, prostitution, theft) and its intervention in the context of decentralization for socio-economic growth in Togo.

Launching the activities, Minister Hodin Kokou Eké revealed that the organization of TVET week since last year in Sokodé aims to improve the attractiveness of its sector to reverse the trend of galloping enrollments at the secondary level. general education in order to offer young people various training opportunities.

“TVET is doing better and better in the plateau region,” he suggested.

Congratulating the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé, the government and its technical and financial partners for their unceasing support, he invited all the actors to work in synergy for a public-private partnership for a sustainable economic development.

Created on February 7, 1995, the ETFP of Atakpamé aims to develop the professional skills of young people and ensure the qualification of the active population. It currently has 2,279 learners, an increase of 440 compared to last year.

The diploma courses are the quantitative technical management baccalaureate (G2), the commercial technique (G3) for the long courses, the technical certificate in civil engineering, the industrial CAP, automobile mechanics, masonry, car bodywork, carpentry wood, equipment electricity. This establishment also trains in cutting and sewing and others.

At the regional level, there are a total of 37 technical and vocational training establishments and centres, 9 of which are public and 28 are private, secular and denominational, providing classic, modular and short-term training. The number of learners this year amounts to 10,391 once morest 8,123 last year, an increase of 2,268 learners corresponding to a progressive rate of 27.91%.

This edition will reach its apotheosis on March 17 in Lomé with prizes which will be awarded to the best works as well as to training centers and trainers.
