A start of the Women’s Tour de France 2024 from Rotterdam
The success of the first edition, won by Annemiek van Vleuten, with an average audience share of almost 50% on the national channel NOS, contributed to the excitement around this race. The Grand Départ will be co-organized with the cities of The Hague and Dordrecht, which will respectively host the finish of the first stage and the start of the second. The stages will be broadcast live on France Télévisions and broadcast in 190 countries, as in previous editions.
On the lands of the first winner of the test
“We are proud to organize the first Grand Départ abroad of the Women’s Tour de France, with The Hague and Dordrecht. The magic of the Tour spreads ever further. This unforgettable event will encourage our citizens to get on their bikes and broaden their horizons”rejoices mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb. “It seemed logical to us that the leading nation of women’s cycling might host the biggest cycling race in the world. It is among the Dutch that we find the greatest champions of recent years. Going to their land augurs well for a great popular celebration. We can expect the massive presence of their supporters,” adds Marion Rousse, the director of the event.
