MEDICATIONS – Every year, the medical journal Prescribe publishes an updated list of drugs judged “more dangerous than useful”.
In total, 105 appear in this 2024 edition, of which 88 are marketed in France.
In this “black list”, Smecta, already present last year, figures prominently. This great regular in medicine cabinets, used against intestinal disorders, is not recommended due to its “natural lead pollution”, source of neurological, hematological, renal, reprotoxic toxic effects, “ most of which increase with the exposure dose ».
There are also several cough medicines, including Toplexil and its effects. “neuroleptics”or Muscol, Bisolvon and Maxilase, which have no use other than that of a placebo.
In the anti-inflammatories category, Voltarene is one of the drugs targeted with, among others, Cartrex and Ketum. These can cause cardiovascular adverse effects, but also cutaneous adverse effects.
Actifed Cold, Dolirhume and Humex
In the anti-cold and anti-sore throat section, many medications, often decongestants, are highlighted by Prescribe : Actifed Rhume, Dolirhume, Humex, Nurofen, Rhinadvil…
Against gastric disorders, Vogalene or Domperidone Biogaran exposes them to heart rhythm disorders, strokes and sudden deaths.
