Long-distance sports: add 20++ yards to the clubhead.
By: Chawisa Dechathipat
I’m like any other athlete. A golfer who is very determined and serious. One day, I had the opportunity to compete in the distance. Since that day, my vision of long-distance sports has completely changed.
For me, I used to think that distance racing was just a game for people with bad swings. trying to thrust out as hard as possible and pray that there will be 1 in a million balls that hit the furthest but in fact It’s completely different than I thought.
Long-distance sports are a combination of skill and athleticism. It’s a different sport than golf. Quiet, bleak, long distance sports brings together a group of people who demand excitement, rawness, intensity and speed, with the desire to witness the world’s fastest ball speed sport.
“There is no trick in hitting long distances.” Bobby Peterson, Long Range Coach
Having observed and practiced closely with Kyle Bershire and 2021 long-distance world champion Kanani Lodge, I realized that what the coaches said was correct. Hitting further takes time, commitment and understanding of the right fundamentals.
There are 3 main factors in hitting the golf ball further: 1. Decent golf mechanics 2. Appropriate equipment. 3. Health care plan In addition, other factors It also plays a part in helping to hit more distance, but there are only 3 of these. in the control of the athletes
Good swing mechanics: Want to know if you can practice long distance shooting? Test to see if you can hit the center of the club 90% of the shots with every club in the bag. If you can, you’re welcome. You have continued with training to increase clubhead speed. It’s true that increased clubhead speed Does not mean that the distance will increase as well. During training sessions to increase clubhead speed You have to put precision and direction first. Absolutely do not think regarding it. The goal of training is to increase your ability to build maximum speed. so that you can have higher normal speed later
For my training, here are the guidelines:
Warming up: if you don’t want to get hurt Never skip this step. Slowly start by swinging at normal speed until your body is ready. Then swing to have a faster stroke, for example, if the racket counts one, the swing hit counts two in the next hit. Make a count of one-two faster than before. At this stage, do it by swinging the wind. hit without balls It will make the body move smoothly. It is important to let the body feel the “speed” that occurs without the wrist resistance from hitting the ball. to prevent injuries during training
start:In one practice round, hit the ball at the highest possible speed for 6 to 8 balls, then rest for no more than 1 minute. Watch how your body is doing. will begin to see an increase in speed It may take up to 2-3 rounds, in my case up to 5 rounds before the golf ball speed increases.
repeat: At this point, your heart rate will increase. Your hands will start to tremble when you set the ball. That’s a sign that you’re pushing your limits. Do at least 10 rounds per practice. I’ve watched Kyle practice 100 hits at a time, if possible. There was no excuse at all.
Suitable equipment:This is the most challenging aspect of long distance shooting. Finding a 48-inch long clubhead at 4 degrees in a typical golf shop It’s almost impossible. Usually, a club suitable for someone with a clubhead speed of regarding 95 miles per hour is 45 inches long at 10 degrees. and with very low degrees It is to match the style of hitting that is different from the normal hit. Of course, it made it harder to hit. In a match, give 6 chances to hit to get the furthest ball still within the specified range. Health care plan:In this verse, it is not only regarding the development of the body. But there is also the matter of creating a vicious cycle of competition, food, rest and recovery. and intensity of training
Building a competitive cycle is finding ways that we can maximize our performance when it comes to competition. This took a lot of time to prepare, and I have to say that I was only able to find half of it. It is imperative that you release your items when you need them the most, that is, when the competition comes.
– Food, it describes itself well. It’s not just every athlete who needs to pay attention. But all human beings in this world They should choose to eat only what is good for themselves as well.
– relaxation and rejuvenation Give yourself time to repair your body from training. Our muscles only recover when they are at rest.
– Training intensity refers to how much effort you put into training. whether it is physical training Or speed training, just doing it is not enough to raise yourself up.
The last one is physical development. I choose to play a variety of sports. To exercise training in each area, such as cross-fitting for physical strength. Rock climbing to train your fingers to be strong to help grip the racket. Swim to build balance and strength in the body. Muay Thai for improving speed and strength Playing a variety of sports is more fun than just going to the gym. But no matter what, you have to go to the gym anyway. Because I don’t have a lot of time to go play everything all the time. going to the gym hard Doesn’t mean clubhead speed will be faster. But being stronger, it helps our body to take more strength. make no injury when exerted more
If you keep telling me It would take several days. but for a start this is enough One thing I can say for sure is that if you only practice increasing your speed once a week in a month from your 5 irons while playing golf. There may be a chance to become iron 7 and if you keep doing it. You might become the next distance champ, who knows?
