In the state of Nueva Esparta, the programming of the eighteenth edition of the World Poetry Festival began, which pays tribute to the Barin poet Leonardo Ruiz Tirado, with the meeting called “Entreversos”, in which children from the community from Conejeros in Porlamar, Mariño municipality, read prominent national poets.

This was reported by the coordinator of the National Poetry School in the state of Nueva Esparta, Mirimarit Paradas, who highlighted the importance of children’s relationship with poetry.

“In this meeting, the voices of the poets Ramón Palomares, Gustavo Pereira, Luis Alberto Crespo, our honoree Leonardo Ruiz, among others, were heard through the children, because they are the protagonists in this meeting, to give it color and that nuance of joy, to our festival,” said Paradas.

Present at the meeting were prominent writers from the state of Nueva Esparta, such as Luis Emilio Romero and Pedro Salima, who highlighted the importance of poetry to encourage reading in new generations.

Children and adults shared the joy of reading poetry

Paula Salima, a participant in the poetry workshop who was only 9 years old, commented that she was very happy to participate in this type of activities and invited other children to read poetry, which she defined as “fun and relaxing.”

Poetry is an exciting part of life, this is how Teresita Suárez, a resident of Conejeros, defines it, who said that she has begun to reread the poetry that moved her in other moments of life.
