Q: How to sustain the passion for 2×4 for so long?
Laura Sidera:
The passion of 2×4 is sustained thanks to passionate people who put all their heart, work and effort into keeping tango alive. Teachers who continue to transmit, musicians who continue playing and composing, milongas, festivals and shows that keep tango constantly growing. And, of course, the support of cultural policies that allow it, whether generating proposals from within or accompanying managers and artists so that it finally happens.

Q: How do you summarize so many years of meetings?
Laura Sidera:
I returned to my city in 2005, with very clear objectives, to make Neuquén a showcase of tango for Argentina and the world. I knew there was a lot to do. I was inspired by the desire to bring a little piece of Buenos Aires. To get to this moment where we find ourselves today with the Festival, we have had to work a lot, and many times we find ourselves alone. Today, following 14 years, we are seeing our fruits.
Our great pillars to make this possible were and are: the tango community, our artists, our public, public and private institutions that accompany us and our great work team.
Mauricio Monzón: On a social level, we find our support in our great tango community in the upper valley, which keeps the flame of the milongas lit throughout the year. On the artistic side, thanks to so many years dedicated to training, we are proud of the artists who accompany us, grateful that the public gave us a place and we see that reflected in the call for all our artistic proposals.

Q: How many registered are there so far?
Mauricio Monzón
: So far there are 200 registered for the festival activities, including show classes and milongas. Not only from our city will participate, but also people from the interior of the upper valley, from other provinces, Río Negro, La Pampa, Salta, Chubut, Mendoza, Corrientes, Buenos Aires and from our neighboring countries Chile and Uruguay. It will be a true 100% Federal meeting.

Q: How many musicians will be on stage?
Mauricio Monzón:
The Latitud Sur Orchestra will perform in the opening show in quartet format, along with 4 couples from the Company. Tango VAS, plus two couples of the guest teachers.

Q: The music will be live, right?
Laura Sidera:
There will be live musicians both at “The Opening Show” and at the Sunday milonga.
The idea of presenting a comprehensive show completely with live musicians is something that I have been dreaming of for years, it gives added value to the stage proposal. And to give it a plus, on the night of the show, there will be a dance floor, so people who want to dance with the orchestra will be able to do so.

I returned to my city in 2005, with the goal of making Neuquén a showcase of tango for Argentina and the world. I was inspired by the desire to bring a little piece of Buenos Aires.

Laura Sidera

Q: Does each participant take care of the costumes?
Laura Sidera:
In the case of the invited artists, they come with their own proposals and with respect to the companies, I personally take care of it. I have the joy of being able to develop in that area of design thanks to my profession as a designer, it is another of my pleasures, as is any manifestation that encompasses the idea of creating.

Q: Where does each company or solo member come from?
Mauricio Monzón:
This year artists from Buenos Aires will participate, such as the teachers and dancers and choreographer Lautaro Cancela, Nany Peralta, the metropolitan champions Jimena Hoeffner; from Chile Max Piero Vera, the guest musicians and singers from the city of Cutral Co, General Roca and our city. The guest DJs are from La Pampa, Cipolletti, Neuquén, Roca and Bahía Blanca.

Q: How many people do you estimate there will be?
Mauricio Monzón:
We hope to have our seats sold out between 250 and 300 people per night.

Q: Are young people approaching the genre, playing and dancing too?
Laura Sidera:
Nowadays, people of all ages approach tango and, fortunately, the youth who are in charge of guaranteeing the future of tango. Coincidentally, we will have very young artists between 15 and 20 years old at the Festival, such as Victoria Carranza, a member of the Company. Municipal de Tango, whom we have accompanied in the formation for 4 years, Sofía Quesada with a voice and interpretation unique for her age and the young talent Mateo Romero on the piano of the new tango formation, which is giving a lot to talk regarding . They will accompany us at the opening show, they will play for the milongueros at the Sunday milonga and they will be present at the closing.

Q: Does the presence of several champions give hierarchy to the event?
Laura Sidera:
It surely gives hierarchy to the event, since it is regarding recognizing the achievement of a certain artist. Likewise, those of us who organize this festival aim to be “a team” that as a whole provides hierarchy. The artists, the organization, the collaborators and the public, we all “are the Festival.”
