That’s why the stars choose to play in Hockeyettan

There have been a number of really flashy signings in Hockeyettan ahead of the coming season and many of the new acquisitions are high-profile players with experience and impressive credentials from a higher level. In the Hockey(h)ettan panel, four of the top signings now tell, among other things, why they choose to play in Hockeyettan and what they will contribute in the third league.

  • “The challenge attracted more than playing in a bottom/middle team in the Allsvenskan”
  • “I felt that I had ended up a bit in a compartment in recent years in the Allsvenskan”
  • “I had something abroad that in retrospect I’m glad I didn’t take”
  • “A small misalignment on a truly self-playing piano can destroy a lot”
  • “I’m not here to find any personal goals”
  • “I’m here to score goals”
  • “I don’t want to go and face Sollentuna or any such team and be bad”

Hockeyetta is primarily regarded as a development league, a series where young players can be hardened in senior hockey and hone their skills to be able to take the step up later in their career. But at the same time, it is a league that houses a lot of players who move in the other direction. Stars who have performed well at a higher level, but for various reasons still choose to play in Hockeyettan.

There have been several really high-profile signings for the league ahead of the coming season and it’s time to take a look at some of these.

In this week’s Hockey(h)ettan panel, we meet four players who all have solid merits from playing at a higher level and who are considered star signings in Hockeyettan ahead of the 24/25 season. The forward Victor Hertzberg who produced 177 points in 252 Allsvenskan matches and will now do it for Brödernas/Väsby, the back Daniel Gunnarsson which connects to Visby/Roma’s big investment with experience from almost 500 SHL matches in the bag, Robin Carlsson Tillström who finished with Karlskrona after five consecutive Allsvenskan seasons and the Västervik keeper Viktor Kokman whose track record includes games in both the Hockeyallsvenskan and the Norwegian top league.

The profile ensemble talks about why they choose to play in the Hockeyettan even though they could very well have played higher up in the system, how to avoid getting stuck in unmotivating series fluff, what they will bring to the table in the third league, which clubs are favorites to move up and a lot of other things.
