That’s why iCloud+ is indispensable – pctipp.ch

To dismiss iCloud as just one storage service among many is a gross underestimate. Because without them, Apple devices seem downright lost.

Each Apple ID includes 5 GB of online storage in the iCloud. That’s just enough for synchronizing addresses, appointments and a few e-mails – and it seems stingy. But if you look at the possibilities, you will find that 15 GB would not be enough either: the service is too useful, too important and too deeply rooted in the system.

For some time now, the term “iCloud” has stood for free storage at Apple. “iCloud+”, on the other hand, refers to the paid service that offers other important advantages. It takes very little to qualify: even if you increase the storage to 50 GB for just 1 franc per month, you’ll end up with iCloud+ – along with all members of Family Sharing.

More storage for everyone

To upgrade to iCloud+, open the panel in System Preferences on Mac Apple-ID. Click in the left column iCloud (1) and then click the button Administer. (2) This costs CHF 1 (50 GB), CHF 3 (300 GB) or CHF 10 (2 TB) per month. Immediately following the upgrade you mark what should be backed up, such as the photos. (3)

Tipp: iCloud is billed to existing balance first, so Apple gift cards eliminate the need for a credit card.

family sharing

All iCloud+ storage quotas can be shared via family sharing. Then 50 GB will hardly be enough, 300 GB is the minimum. There is also no function to allocate memory. Everyone gets what they need until there is nothing left – just like with the refrigerator. Within the family, the quota should be large enough to cover all Macs and mobile devices, which often amounts to the 2 TB tranche.
