Under the name “cholesterol”, we find good cholesterol (HDL) and the bad cholesterol (LDL). Hypercholesterolemia, an excess of bad cholesterol in the blood can have serious health consequences. As stated by Santé Publique France on his site, it is a “major cardiovascular risk factor”. In an article published by our colleagues from Express UKshe explains that thehypercholesterolemia “attack in silence”: the symptoms caused can therefore be very “difficult to perceive”. According to her, a part of the body should however be monitored very closely: the hands, and especially the nails.
She explains that an excess of cholesterol in the blood causes the “formation of plaques” in the vessels, which has the effect of affecting the circulation sanguine. This therefore leads to pallor of the nails. This is notably one of the warning signs of peripheral arterial disease.
