That Macron took off his watch under the table during an interview raises speculation

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – French President Emmanuel Macron sparked wide interaction and questions, followed by speculation among activists on social media, following he took off his wristwatch under the table during a television interview broadcast live on France 2 and TF1.

What sparked speculation regarding the price of Macron’s watch was the timing of its removal, which coincided with his talk regarding the new retirement law and the protests it sparked in many French cities and towns.

Local French newspapers speculated that the price of the watch reaches 80,000 euros (regarding 86.2 thousand dollars), while the local newspaper, “Libération”, quoted people close to the French president that the latter took it off because it repeatedly hit the table, which negatively affected the sound quality during the interview. Noting that the watch is a Bell & Ross BR V1-92, and its price does not exceed 2,500 euros.

It is noteworthy that the new retirement law raises the age for most French people to obtain a government pension from 62 to 64 years, in a move that the government stressed is important and necessary to address the financing deficit.
