“That everything is cheaper there is a self-delusion”: you notice that the prices of used clothes have caught up with new | Business

Augustė Barbora Budrienė, an advocate of slow fashion who created her business from the resale of second-hand clothes, notices that sometimes the prices of second-hand clothes simply “shoot to the heart”.

“Once I was even surprised that the price of fur coats in a network “second-hand” store reached as much as 500 euros, and it was definitely not a store of selected vintage pearls, but a completely different category – the sale of second-hand clothes, parts of which are obtained for free or donated by people, or bought for cents, because they are bought in huge bags”, pointed out ABBudrienė.

Such illogical prices, according to AB Budrienė, discourage the buyer from buying used clothes – he would rather find a new product at a low price in the network of cheap clothing stores.

Management consultant Justas Gavėnas also agrees with the opinion that second-hand clothes are becoming more expensive, noting that in this market, cheapness is no longer the only philosophy of these stores.

“That everything is cheaper there is such a self-delusion, but it’s not for nothing that it looks like that – a lot of effort has been put in,” he noted.

He saw that with his own eyes 15min a journalist. She visited fast fashion and thrift stores to compare prices and was quite surprised by what she saw. New clothes of a similar style were even cheaper than used clothes.
