The Dallas Cowboys won their home game in the National Football League (NFL) on Thanksgiving Day in the United States. The Cowboys moved up to second place in the NFC East division with a 28-20 win over the New York Giants on Thursday.
Quarterback Dak Prescott threw two touchdown passes and a total of 261 yards, relying primarily on CeeDee Lamb, who spectacularly caught a ball with one hand.
The Detroit Lions lost their home game 25:28 against the Buffalo Bills. The decisive field goal from 45 yards away by Buffalo kicker Tyler Bass fell two seconds before the end. This also ended Detroit’s winning streak of three victories.
Detroit equalized with 28 seconds remaining through kicker Michael Badgley from 51 yards. However, the remaining time was enough for Bills quarterback Josh Allen to lead his team within field goal distance again with a 36-yard pass and twelve yards run.
Buffalo improved their tally to eight wins and three losses with the win on Matchday 12 to take the AFC East lead back from the Miami Dolphins, who play the Houston Texans on Sunday. Detroit sits second in the NFC North with four wins and seven losses.
The Minnesota Vikings in particular benefited from the Lions’ defeat, and after a 33:26 win against the New England Patriots they are about to make the playoffs. With nine wins and only two losses, the Vikings around playmaker Kirk Cousins (299 yards, three touchdown passes) in the NFC North are five wins ahead of Detroit and the Green Bay Packers with six games left.
