Thani Al-Zeyoudi: ‘Liva dates’ embody the country’s established approach to supporting farmers

His Excellency Sani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, confirmed that the Liwa Date Festival reflects the country’s strong stance in supporting farmers. This took place during His Excellency’s visit to the 20th edition of the Liwa Date Festival, organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority in strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi National Oil Company “ADNOC” and which will end on July 28.

During the visit, the Prime Minister listened to the introduction of some farmers’ participation in the jujube fruit competition, met with the judges, and learned regarding the ranking mechanism and conditions for participation.

Describing the Liwa Date Palm Festival as a continuation of excellence and support and encouragement to farmers, His Excellency appreciated the interest in the palm tree as a symbol of production and heritage.

He also noted the festival’s tremendous growth over the past few years, praising its combination of produce with community events and activities and highlighting the enthusiasm of the wise leadership to support this trend.

His Excellency said that the UAE dates exports to more than 135 countries around the world, benefiting from the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements it has signed with many countries, which showed a growth of regarding 25% in the date industry last year, confirming the existence of UAE date products. in the international market.

His Excellency, accompanied by Festival Director Obaid Khalfan Al Mazrouei, inspected the pavilions of a number of government and private institutions participating in the festival, including those of the Office of the Representative of the Ruler of the Al Dhafra Region, the “ADNOC” Group, Abu Dhabi Agriculture and the pavilions of the Food Safety Authority, the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, the “Tadweer” Group of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority and the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority.

His Excellency the President also visited the festival’s popular markets and learned regarding the festival’s sales outlets and exhibits, including heritage, agricultural and date products, as well as the latest technologies in the field of agriculture in general and palm cultivation and related industries in particular.
