(CercleFinance.com) – Thales Alenia Space yesterday took stock of its contribution to the Artemis mission, NASA’s project to return to the Moon which will take off from Florida next Monday. The Italian Leonardo (33%) recalls having been responsible for designing the entire lunar ecosystem, ranging from vehicles to inhabited orbital infrastructures.

These surface solutions should make it possible to live on the Moon and exploit its resources to give birth to a ‘new lunar economy’, explains the joint venture in a press release. Under a contract concluded with the European Space Agency ( ESA), Thales Alenia Space is also the source of several technologies for the European Service Module (ESM) that will enable the Orion spacecraft to take astronauts into lunar orbit.

The company, in partnership with Northrop Grumman, says it also contributed to the ‘Halo’ logistics and housing module, which is supposed to provide living conditions worthy of a five-star hotel on the future ‘Lunar Gateway’ station. (c) 2022 CercleFinance.com. All rights reserved.
