Thales, a French electronics group specializing in aerospace, defence, security and land transport, will invest more than 350 million dirhams (33.3 million dollars) in the cybersecurity sector in Morocco, we learn We Are Tech.
A memorandum of understanding relating to an investment project in the outsourcing sector was signed on Thursday, December 22, between the Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Ghita Mezzour and the CEO of Thales Holding Morocco, Hicham Alj. Through the memorandum, Thales intends to set up a nearshore center to serve its international customers, which will create nearly 150 direct jobs with high added value in the country.

On Twitter, Ghita Mezzour said that this memorandum of understanding comes ” strengthen the position of the Kingdom of Morocco as a regional economic pole » and brings the results of jobs created thanks to partnerships since November 2021 in the digital sector to more than 15,800 jobs, for an overall investment of one billion and 10 million dirhams.
Over the past two years, Morocco has multiplied partnerships in the digital field. Thousands of new direct and stable jobs are planned in several cities across the country for the construction and equipping of digital and coding schools, innovation hubs, as well as the creation of regional platforms for the development of programs training in upskilling and reskilling. These partnerships thus further strengthen the place of digital technology in the country’s economy as one of the most important sources of employment for young people and a lever for regional development.
According to Hicham Alj, the future nearshore center will make it possible to directly address the cybersecurity market in Africa, but also to assist the group in its international projects. “ This agreement reinforces our presence of more than forty years in the kingdom and we plan to open a new branch in Casablanca in 2023. ” did he declare
