In December, the value of Thailand’s imports fell 12% year-on-year in 2021, compared with a forecast of 8% decline. Much of the imported goods will be used to produce goods to be exported back.
Also in the last month of 2022, Thailand recorded a trade deficit of 1.03 billion USD, lower than the previous forecast of 1.06 billion USD. For the whole year, imports increased by 13.6%, with a trade deficit of 16.1 billion USD.
