Thailand is a popular tourist destination for Hong Kong people. It is cheap and good. According to Thai media reports, the local government announced in May last year that it would levy a Thailand Tourism Fee, which was planned to be implemented in August or September of the same year; but it was not implemented due to the continued epidemic. This proposal was finally put forward once more this year. Thailand’s National Tourism Policy Committee met to discuss it in January this year and submitted it to the cabinet. It will be finalized in February and has a chance to be levied on June 1. The details of the levy have not been officially announced at this stage. The local media speculated that the levy of 300 baht, or regarding 70 Hong Kong dollars, would be collected by the airlines like an airport tax.
