The festival “Spring tea flavor – Tan Cuong specialty tea area” is an annual activity organized by Tan Cuong commune, Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province with the meaning of honoring tea trees and promoting typical products. of tea trees to a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
Tan Cuong commune is located 12km from the center of Thai Nguyen city, established in 1926, with the characteristics of semi-mountainous land, mainly hill-shaped hills, moderate slope, very suitable for the cultivation of cash crops and industrial plants, especially tea.
No one can remember the time when tea trees appeared in Tan Cuong, only know that tea trees have been attached to generations of people here since the beginning of the commune’s establishment.
According to the people in the commune, the person who has openly destroyed the land of Tan Cuong, and also the person who has contributed to the cultivation and development of tea trees in the commune is Mr. Vu Van Hiet, commonly known as Mr. Doi Nam.
He was born in 1883 in Bach Xam commune, My Hao district, Hung Yen province. He has made great contributions to reclaiming wasteland and establishing tea trees on new land, so the people of Xinjiang consider him the father of the Tan Cuong tea growing and processing profession.

The year 1930 was an important milestone when Mr. Doi Nam opened a wholesale and retail tea shop in the town area Thai Nguyen (now Thai Nguyen city).
He took his own brand for Xinjiang tea with the name “Canh Crane Tea.” This brand has been famous in all regions and regions in the country, opening a new development period for trees Xinjiang tea.
Tea has become a key economic crop in hunger eradication and poverty alleviation and is the main source of income for the people and the local economy.

With the attention of Party committees, authorities at all levels, the help of professional agencies, businesses …, people of Xinjiang have been supported with seedlings, fertilizers, drying machines, etc. packing, preserving…, being trained and guided on growing methods, tea processing safe according to VietGap standards, tea production is growing day by day.
Tan Cuong tea products have met food safety and hygiene standards and are especially trusted by domestic and foreign consumers. With a clear origin and quality, in 2006, tea products of Tan Cuong commune were granted a certificate of registration of geographical indications by the National Office of Intellectual Property – Ministry of Science and Technology of “Xinjiang.”
Mr. Pham Tien Sy, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tan Cuong Commune, was pleased to say that the whole commune currently has nearly 400ha of tea with a total output of over 1,000 tons of dried bud tea/year.
The value obtained on 1 hectare of tea reaches from 800 million to 1 billion VND/year. The annual income from tea has accounted for over 70% of the total income of the people in the whole commune.
Out of a total of 12 cooperatives and many cooperative groups established, there are 6 cooperatives with products that meet OCOP standards from 3 to 5 stars. The tea tree has really brought prosperity and happiness to the people of Xinjiang.
