2023-12-24 10:46:00

Austin ∙ The US Census Bureau found that 30% of the 1.6 million people who came to the US in 2023 chose Texas as their home state. At the state level, this year saw the highest post-Covid growth, according to the bureau’s report. At the national level, the population growth rate is projected to increase by 0.2% in 2021, 0.4% in 2022 and 0.5% in 2023.

Immigration is still a major contributor to population growth. Immigration returning to pre-Covid levels and fewer deaths are driving the country’s growth, said Christy Wilder, a demographer at the Census Bureau.
