In the United States in the state of Texas, a 15-year-old teenager was rescued by police 10 days following she was kidnapped from a basketball game she was attending with her father. The young girl had gone to the bathroom and had not returned to sit next to him. She was eventually found in a pedophilia ring.
The unidentified teenager’s father raised the alarm shortly following she disappeared while attending a Dallas Maverick game at theAmerican Airline Center on April 8th.
The girl’s family then called the Dallas police, but the department was unwilling to investigate, due to Texas family code laws. These treat teenage disappearances as runaways unless there is concrete evidence of an abduction, reports the Daily Mail.
Six days following the abduction, the family contacted the nonprofit “Texas Counter-Trafficking Initiative”, which found naked photos of the young girl on a prostitution website and alerted the Oklahoma police. The victim was found at a hotel in Oklahoma Citymore than 300 kilometers from where she was abducted.
My heart breaks for the unimaginable things my daughter had to endure
Police raided the hotel and found the girl and convicted sex offender Kenneth Nelson in a room that had been rented with someone else’s ID.
“My heart breaks for the unimaginable things my daughter had to endure during the 11 days she was abducted, and I am so happy that she is safe as we work on her recovery,” the girl’s mother said in a statement.
Eight people have been arrested in connection with the crime, reports the American channel Fox News.
