Test – The Sisters 2: a solid adaptation

2023-10-10 09:06:53

A successful animated series, The Sisters was already entitled to a first in-game adaptation in 2021. Microids is now signing a second part, superior in every way to the first.

Among the animated series that are currently a hit among young people, we will cite The Sisters, a series imagined by William Maury, which will later be adapted into a comic strip then into an animated series. Originally, the author had imagined a cartoon inspired by his two daughters, who adored each other as much as they hated each other. Quirky, funny, sometimes touching too, the series is now a huge success. Enough for the publisher Microids to give us a second game.

An adventure mode allows you to experience the story of the Sisters.

Before going further in this test, it should be noted that the game Les Sisters 2 is in reality a mix of two very distinct genres with on the one hand a festive party game, which is preferably enjoyed by several people, and on the other a solo adventure game, which takes place in a mini open-world. If it’s the mini-games that interest you (more than twenty!), you can directly face your friends (up to 4 players in total). Like in a Mario Party, the games will call on your reflexes or your memory. When hunting for ghosts, for example, you will have to point out as quickly as possible with a flashlight the ghosts that appear in the half-open windows. In another game, you will have to memorize the characters, objects displayed on the screen, and then play riddles. There really is something for everyone and while not all the games are so successful, most are overall fun to play.

The main game mode, Adventure mode, offers a narrative mode in which Wendy and her sister will have to venture to the four corners of the map to complete missions, participate in mini-games and discover secrets. Visually, it’s very light, but the formula works quite well and above all, it’s one of the only open-world games aimed at a young audience.

In this mini-game you will have to sit on the seat that earns the most points.

The story this time focuses on “Sis-Tok”, a social network on which the two sisters wish to become influencers. A concept well anchored in the era of time and which fits perfectly with the world of comics. The single-player mode is solid, enough to keep our dear little darlings busy for a while. The problem is that if you have already played the first part, you will have this unpleasant feeling of déjà vu. Because pretty much, you find yourself in the same environment, just a little more alive. From now on, it will not be uncommon to come across passers-by and vehicles on the roads. Which contrasts quite a bit with the ghost town of the first episode. There are small improvements here and there. However, we do have the impression of playing the same game, just more refined.

The real plus compared to the first part? We have less of the feeling that the open world is ultimately just a clumsy way of linking the different mini-games because de facto, there are a lot of collectibles to collect in the game and above all, the main missions are far from just make you play the mini games one following the other. In one of them, for example, you will be responsible for playing the paparazzi. In another, it will be necessary to find lost dogs. Accessible, with its very simple gameplay, the game nonetheless offers a solid experience with many benefits. Our two sisters can, for example, get around town on foot, on a scooter, but also on rollerblades or a kart, just that! There are also lots of little Easter eggs like the mini video game to play between sisters, on the living room console.

The ghost game is one of the most successful in the game.

So of course the game isn’t very pretty. Not to say far from current standards. But it must be admitted, the graphic style comes across rather well and the comic book style plays nicely into hiding. If, technically, it is not famous, the game has the merit of being extremely faithful to the original material, even in its soundtrack. It also offers quite generous content with its robust adventure mode, and its multiple multiplayer modes. You will be able to launch a challenge between friends, on a single mini-game, launch a series of three challenges, play all of the mini-games or launch a “World Tour” in which each player will have to choose the next mini-game. It’s well thought out enough to allow everyone to find what they’re looking for with short or quick games.

Conclusion

A very faithful adaptation of the comic strip and the animated series The Sisters, “Stars des Réseaux” is a very good adventure game for young people, which perfectly transcribes the universe of The Sisters and offers very pleasant entertainment with its Adventure mode in open world. We are actually entitled to two games in one, with on the one hand a scripted adventure game, in which the player carries out missions in a mini open world, collects collectibles and participates in mini games, and a party- multiplayer game in which each part can be customized down to the smallest detail. The mini-games offered are for the most part very successful and will use reflexes and memory. With its accessible gameplay and colorful graphics, Sisters 2 targets a very young audience, brilliantly. The only (big) flaw: technically, you shouldn’t expect a slap in the face, very far from it…
