Saints Row seems to rise from the ashes given the number of years it has been awaited.

  • A nice scenario and new friends that we adopt easily.
  • A successful homecoming that does not lack humor.
  • An excellent soundtrack that we never tire of.
  • Several bugs remain to be fixed for the moment.
  • Some quests are repetitive.
  • We still miss the superpowers of Saints Row IV.

A return to the origins that we were waiting for!

The game series Saints Row has an interesting story. For the first two opuses, the idea was to compete GTA in one way or another. And as you might expect, it’s nearly impossible, to this day, to top Rockstar on its home turf. Suddenly, the developers of the time pushed the delusions very far to Saints Row: The Third et Saints Row IV. The recipe was a success, but we had been waiting for the sequel for a long time. For this reboot of the license, you will have to take over each district of the city and make your businesses prosper there so that the money comes flooding into the coffers. All this while facing local gangs of thugs, the Los Panteros, the Idols, the police and the private Marshall Industries militia who won’t like you very much, that goes without saying. With your friends Neenah, Eli and Kevin (says Kev) you are here to reign supreme over the city.

Welcome to Santo Ileso
Santo Ileso is a city that we discover with pleasure.

A beautiful comeback… Perfectible.

So we’re going to evacuate right away what’s problematic in the game to focus on what’s cool followingwards. Technically, Saints Row is lower than the current competition. Strange collisions, physics movements that don’t correspond to anything concrete, objectives that don’t trigger or aren’t validated and a homemade graphics and physics engine that doesn’t seem quite mastered yet. BUT, and we must insist on this BUT, despite all that, the rest is so good that we can well forgive such imperfections. Really. Especially since we can believe that there will be patches made to the game over time.

You who don't get your pay
Not receiving payment for his first assignment, that can only be a bad joke, right?

The rest of the game is insane!

As long as you accept the delirium and what has just been stated, you will have a completely crazy time on this game! The voice acting is excellent, the new characters are all cool, the missions are varied and sometimes unexpected even if Saints Row keeps its classics. Thus, we will find, for example, the possibility of making insurance fraud or even of doing the most damage in the city in a given time. Boom! And of course, the turf war is important, but we’ll let you discover everything!

The game is visually beautiful given the technical possibilities (no doubt that many bugs will be fixed day one). And above all, we take pleasure in raking the map to control it completely and to discover all its secrets. The outfits are also worth seeing, of course, especially since it is possible to create a character in your image with great options of customisation. If you take the time to fully experience the experience, you won’t get over it anytime soon, we promise! Especially since many things are possible, particularly in terms of inclusion, whether on the side of the handicapped or other visible minorities. Simply have fun!

It’s an 8, but there’s a cat named Biscotte, so it’s a 10.

A quest in several acts

Like a Hollywood movie, Saints Row embeds a storyline that will see you evolve and go through a whole range of emotions. Your character starts the game struggling to make ends meet, then builds his own criminal empire. Of course, we won’t divulge the details of the story, but know that there is a good dose of surprise and an even greater part of madness. The cutscenes also transcribe very well the excess of Saints Row and everything is accompanied by a soundtrack that will appeal to a large number of players. A good part of the budget has undoubtedly been allocated to buying musical rights because there are indeed well-known artists and tunes that will punctuate your walks in Santo Ileso.

Explorer Santo Ileso

Exactly, let’s talk a bit regarding Santo Ileso. It is a fictional American city that would be located in the southwest of the country. One can logically think that the Mexican border is not very far because the influence of this country is clearly visible when one walks in town. In the center of the map is a large lake, bordered by different districts that have their own atmospheres. So there is an industrial and polluted area, a city center full of skyscrapers, a more upscale residential area, a sports stadium, casinos, etc. The edge of the map is made up of desert areas that are suitable for life-size role-playing. Wandering around Santo Ileso will guarantee you a certain change of scenery that goes well with the tone desired for the game. If the map may seem a little cramped to you, at least it is not empty, and that is a plus point to highlight . As you progress, you will also be able to install industries in each of the districts, which will unlock new types of missions to complete and once once more, there is a good diversity in the activities offered even if some repetition quickly settling in some cases.
