Tesla to recall over 100,000 vehicles

Electric car maker Tesla has decided to recall 107,293 vehicles in China from May 23 due to safety risks, China’s Market Control Administration said Monday.

The decision, made by Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., affects Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced in China between Oct. 19, 2021 and April 26, 2022, according to a statement filed with the administration.

A defect related to the central touchscreen during fast charging can lead to malfunctions and pose security risks, the statement said.

The company promised to perform free software updates on the recalled vehicles to correct the problem.
