Continuation of the Tesla saga in Sweden where the very first strike once morest the automobile giant has continued to mobilize many workers for almost a month. At the origin of the standoff, the manufacturer’s categorical refusal to sign a collective agreement on wages, which is the basis of the Swedish labor market.
Indeed, in Sweden, it is the unions and employers’ organizations which negotiate collective agreements, sector by sector. They cover around nine out of ten workers and regulate, among other things, wages, leave, overtime pay and pension amounts.
This movement began at the end of October when some 130 mechanics, working in ten Tesla workshops spread across seven cities in Sweden, went on strike, according to the IF Metall union, one of the largest in the country with 300,000 members.
Quickly, the movement spread to various sectors: mechanics in workshops who no longer repair the electric cars of Elon Musk’s group, dock workers who stopped unloading vehicles arriving at ports and electricians leaving the terminals of brand refills broken down.
The postal sector is not to be outdone and has stopped deliveries of mail and parcels to all Tesla sites in Sweden since Monday. This umpteenth complication for the manufacturer presents several unfortunate consequences: the end of deliveries of spare parts and automobile components, as well as license plates intended for new Teslas. In a twist of fate, the Postnord postal group, currently on strike, is also the only one usually authorized to deliver plates issued by the Swedish Transport Agency, explains the daily Dagens Industri. The company therefore risks no longer being able to put its cars on the road and cannot count on an alternative.
This is too much for Elon Musk, who described this new rallying as “foolish” on X (formerly Twitter) even though he had not yet spoken publicly regarding this strike.
