Tesla Model Y No. 12 from Germany involved in an accident > teslamag.de

After they were on Tuesday at the Delivery Day on the premises of the German Tesla Gigafactory in Grünheide near Berlin received the first Model Y produced there for sale had, the customers gradually made their way home with them. Several of them might then be seen charging at superchargers in the area, easily recognizable by the short-term license plates with LOS at the beginning, which Tesla had gotten for them for the first few days. One of the first 30 customers with a German Model Y was an entrepreneur from the Ruhr area – and just two days later he reported that his brand new Tesla from the new factory was involved in an accident.

German Tesla No. 12 with rear damage

Lined up one behind the other and all shiny black, the Model Y Performance waited on Tuesday for the 30 customers plus companions whom Tesla had invited to Delivery Day. Before the LOS signs were attached for the drive home, they had license plates with the inscription GIGA and a number from 001 to 0030 behind them (see photo above). were handed over the premiere Teslas in this order then by CEO Elon Musk himselfwho also signed some of them.

The German Tesla Model Y number 12 went to the roofer entrepreneur Jörg Minnebusch from Oberhausen. Unlike other premiere customers, he did not immediately document this on social media, but it emerges from an unpleasant message he received on Thursday published on Facebook: “MYP is not even 2 days old and someone is already driving me in front of the red traffic light in Giga 0012,” he wrote in a German group regarding the electric car.

His Model Y Performance got hit at the left rear, as you can see on a photo posted for this purpose. The rear bumper, the tailgate and a body part on the side are visible. His commentary explains that the owner was standing at a traffic light with it and the driver of another car drove up out of “carelessness”. Another vehicle was said to have been damaged, but no one was injured. He even saw the accident opponent coming too fast in the rear-view mirror, but due to a lack of space in front, he mightn’t avoid it, wrote Minnebusch.

Model Y should probably be repaired

In the event of damage following such a short time, he was entitled to a new car instead of a repair from the opposing insurance company, it was explained several times on Facebook. But for the owner of one of the first German Model Y, this is of course a difficult consideration: A new Tesla would no longer have the special history and would no longer come directly from the hands of the CEO, so it would have a lower value, at least ideally.

Maybe that’s why Minnebusch seemed to have already decided on the repair option on Friday: The damage had been temporarily repaired in a body workshop with duct tape, he updated his Facebook message. The onward journey is now possible without any problems, parts have been ordered and the repair will cost 20,000 euros. Hopefully soon he will not only be driving one of the first 30 Tesla Model Ys made in Germany, but also the very first one that has already had an accident.
